She studied Photography at the Art Institute of Colorado, located in Denver, where she graduated in early 2010. Soon after graduating, she moved to Chicago where she continued to work with photography, expanding her portfolio and assisting. In late 2011, she moved back to Tulsa where her family still lives. In Tulsa, Butcher has been working in different mediums including printmaking, painting, and design. She has been teaching and collaborating with fellow local artists.
