Opening reception August 5th, 6pm to 9pm
at TAC Gallery
The Tulsa Artists’ Coalition is pleased to present “Landscapes by Corazon Watkins,” August 5 through August 27th, 2016. The public will have the opportunity to meeting Corazon Watkins, a Norman, OK, artist, at the August 5th reception, 6pm to 9pm.
This event is free and open to the public and is part of the Brady Arts District’s First Friday Art Crawl.
Speaking about the inspiration for her art, Corazon Watkins states, “The overall concept is to exhibit completed works based upon the inspiring influences of Poetry. I select and interpret a poem or a single line from a poem through my paintings. Some of the paintings will be abstract and impressionistic in style, while others are juxtaposed with found objects. Although I use an intermixture of styles, materials and processes, the themes or poems I use for my paintings remain consistent. The selected poem or a line of poem determines the materials and objects I use in each artwork. Right next to each paint, a chosen line of poem is written on a transparent, adhesive paper place next to the painting.”
Corazon Watkins is an internationally known artist, exhibiting in such diverse places as Mozambique, Africa; Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; and Mojacar, Spain. She received her Bachelor of Arts at Northeastern State University in Tahlequa and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
