Since 2012, TAC’s annual members’ show has been hosted at various venues across the city, including AHHA, TCC and TU’s Oklahoma Center for the Humanities, providing valuable exposure for TAC artists. However, there’s something truly special about coming home. This January, TAC is proudly rekindling its connection to its roots with Home Fires, a vibrant exhibition marking the return of the annual members’ show to the TAC Gallery at 9 E. Reconciliation Way. Opening on Friday, January 3rd at 6 p.m., this exhibition is more than just a display of art; it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and the enduring spirit of Tulsa’s art scene.
“TAC Gallery has long served as a gathering place for artists, a space where ideas are shared, connections are forged, and creativity thrives,” said TAC president Colleen Stiles. “Home Fires embodies this sentiment, welcoming TAC members back to the space that has nurtured their artistic voices for so many years.”
The Annual Members’ Show has always been a cornerstone of TAC’s mission to showcase contemporary visual arts to a broader audience. This prominent regional showcase provides a platform for both emerging and established artists to share their exceptional work, spanning a diverse range of media. From the stroke of a brush to the shaping of clay, the click of a shutter to the weaving of threads, TAC’s membership encompasses a rich tapestry of artistic disciplines.
This year’s exhibition promises to be particularly special, not only because of its return to the gallery but also because of the breadth and depth of talent on display. Home Fires features 63 captivating pieces created by 56 talented artists, offering a compelling snapshot of the current state of Tulsa’s art community. The exhibition is juried by a panel of independent art professionals, and awards will be given for Best of Show and two Jurors’ Choice Awards. Visitors can expect to encounter a diverse array of styles, perspectives, and mediums, reflecting the dynamic and multifaceted nature of TAC’s membership.
Home Fires is more than just an art exhibition; it’s a symbol of reconnection. It represents the rekindling of the bonds that make TAC such a vital part of Tulsa’s cultural landscape. It’s a reminder that even when we venture out into the world, there’s always a place to come home to. The exhibition’s title, Home Fires, perfectly captures this feeling of warmth, welcome, and unity. Just as a home fire provides light, warmth, and a sense of belonging, this exhibition aims to create a similar atmosphere within the TAC Gallery.
TAC’s commitment to supporting its members is evident in everything it does. From providing an online member directory that connects artists with potential clients and collaborators to maintaining a beautiful gallery space for exhibitions and events, TAC strives to foster a thriving artistic community. The annual members’ show is yet another testament to this commitment, providing a valuable opportunity for artists to showcase their work and gain recognition.
